We found out the other day that baby #2 is a little girl and I'm so in love with her already. Her profile pics make my heart melt every time I look at them (of course I did the same thing with Leighton too). We are so excited and know that Leighton will be a GREAT big brother. I might have a wild child on my hands, but he is the sweetest thing ever. He kisses everything in sight including his toys, blankets, the dogs, his food, juice cup, etc, etc.. the list goes on and on. I can't wait for him to hold his baby sister and see the look on his face when he meets her. I'm still in a little shock that we are having a girl and I get a bit nervous each time I think about it because I have a munchkin that is PURE boy! What in the world will I do with bows, dresses, and baby dolls??? I know it will come naturally when that day comes, just like raising a boy came naturally. You learn as you go, right?

1st haircut
We took Leighton to get his first haircut the other day. Boy, was it a disaster. After spending an hour in the salon, we finally sat down in the chair, gave him a sucker and he was fine for about 5 minutes. Oh my, lots of screaming going on. For a kid that is on the go 24/7...forcing him in a chair to be still is not in his nature. Not even a sucker will do the trick. I was so worn out from chasing him around everywhere, that I couldn't even focus on him getting his haircut. Don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. Hopefully next time will be better.

I'm a big brother!!
Leighton is excited to say that he is going to be a BIG BROTHER come February!! I'm 9 weeks today and this first trimester is about to kick my butt. I've been so tired and nauseated ALL day and night. SO ready to get it past me and start feeling normal again. Well, who feels normal while pregnant anyway, but this first trimester seems to be knocking me off my feet. Thankfully, I have the best husband ever who puts my needs first and does an outstanding job helping out where needed. For instance, he was on call one night, and for those that know what on call means, you don't get ANY sleep. He came home the next morning at 7a.m. and let me sleep until 8:30a.m. because he knew I needed it. Bless him. He really is the best.
We told Kevin's parents while visiting in Texas for a family reunion. Leighton wore a shirt that says, "I'm not monkeying around, I'm going to be a big brother." It was a hit for sure! Then we went to my mom's house to cookout and Leighton had another shirt that said, "I'm not lion, I'm going to be a big brother." Yes, we will find out what the gender is. I'm a planner and I need to plan. No surprises for me. Stayed tuned for more details. Oh, and I wish I had pictures of Leighton actually wearing his shirts, but if you knew my kid, then you would understand that him sitting still for a picture is virtually impossible so when I capture one...it's like gold.

Happy 4th of July!
We had so much fun this year celebrating the 4th of July. This weekend couldn't have been any better. Kevin was off for three days and we enjoyed having him home and spending quality time with each other. Last year, Leighton was only about 3 months old and this year, he was running around enjoying all the kids chasing him. It was a weekend filled with good food, friends/family, and celebrating my birthday. : )

Tomato anyone?
Lately, Leighton has discovered the outdoors. He's always loved being outside, but he now understands that when the dogs go out first thing in the morning, he can too. So off we go in our pj's with my coffee and his milk in hand to play in the backyard. It's actually quit peaceful and not as hot at 7am so it's very enjoyable to sit out there while he plays. So today, as I'm sitting there enjoying my morning coffee and listening to the birds chattin' it up, I turn around and there's Leighton chowing down on one of our tomatoes he picked off our tomato plant. If you know my child, then you know he LOVES to eat. I've witnessed him many of times walking up to complete strangers begging for food. He could eat a full course meal and still eat my plate full. And if you looked at our bank statement, it would scream Kroger. Growing boys gotta eat, right?

BOYS BOYS BOYS!!!!
OK, so if you have boys, then you know EXACTLY how I feel when you see these pictures. This little momma is ALWAYS worn slap out by the end of the day. Remind you he doesn't like to play with his toys, but with everything else he's not supposed to get into. Typical kid, right? I like to think so. Even though there are days I feel like I can't go another minute without droppin' dead of exhaustion, I wouldn't change it for the world. I love the fact that he is pure boy, all boy, nothing but boy. He keeps me on my toes 24/7 and like I said..there is never a dull moment with him. The kid gets cuter and cuter!
The tub has gone down A LOT since I took the picture. When I walked into the bathroom..my heart stopped, literally stopped. Yep, bedroom door stays closed now.
This doesn't involve a mess, but It was so cute to me when he did this. Kevin was eating an apple and Leighton decided he needed a bite too. Not just one, two, or three bites, but as many bites as he wanted.
I have NEVER seen a kid move so fast when making a mess. He's like go go gadget speed racer when on the move.
He is obsessed with balloons, as he would say, "bawooons". I kid you not, he got this balloon at a birthday party and would not let go of it. What did mom do...stuck him in the bath with it. I've learned there are just some battles you don't want to fight.
Ready for bath time? Not Leighton, he dashed off the second I undressed him. Found him playing on the computer. Had to get the booty shot.
Some of my faves....
A year already???
Where does the time go? Literally. I can't believe my baby boy is ONE already. I have to say, there is never a dull moment in our household with this child and he has brought more joy into our lives than I could ever imagine. He makes us laugh on a constant basis, loves food, loves his momma, very independent, on the go 24/7, into everything but his toys, infatuated with "bawoons", loves outdoors, loves people and so much more. Leighton, you are such a blessing to us and we are beyond grateful God entrusted us with you. We love you SO much little man!!
Happy Birthday Leighton!
